Orange Rolls

  • 3 tbls. active dry yeast
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 1/2 sticks butter, melted
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • 6 to 7 cups flour
  • 1/2 stick butter, melted
  • Rind of 2 oranges (reserve oranges)
  • 2 cups coconut
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • Juice of 2 oranges
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup sour cream


  1. Dissolve yeast in warm water. Add ½ cup sugar, 1½ sticks melted butter, eggs, 1 cup sour cream and salt; mix well. Add flour (enough to make a sticky dough) and knead. Rise until double in size. Punch down and let rise again. Roll out. Combine all filling ingredients and spread over dough. Rollup jellyroll style. Slice into 10 rolls and allow them to rise until doubled. Heat oven to 350°. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes. Cream together glaze ingredients and boil for 15 minutes. Pour over baked hot rolls. Yields about 10 servings.
