Fourth of July Bean Casserole

Ingredients

  • 1/2 lb sliced bacon, diced
  • 1/2 lb. ground beef
  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • 1 (28 oz.) can pork and beans
  • 1 (17 oz.) can lima beans, rinsed and drained
  • 1/2 cup barbecue sauce
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 tbls. prepared mustard
  • 2 tbls. molasses
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. chili powder

Directions

  1. Heat oven to 350°. In a large skillet, cook bacon, beef and onion until meat is browned and onion is tender; drain. Transfer to a greased 2½-quart baking dish; add all beans and mix well. In a small bowl, combine remaining ingredients; stir into beef and bean mixture. Cover and bake for 45 minutes. Uncover; bake 15 minutes longer. Yields 12 servings.
