Apple Rolls

  • 2 cups flour
  • 2-3 tbls. sugar
  • 3 tbls, shortening
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 tbls. butter
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 2 cups chopped apples
  • salt
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 3/4 cup water
  • Maple extract


  1. Heat oven to 350°. Mix together first six ingredients as pie dough and roll out ¼ inch thick. Brush dough with softened butter and sprinkle with cinnamon. Spread with chopped apples. Roll up, cut into slices and put in a pan. To make syrup, combine brown sugar, water and a few drops of maple extract. Pour over rolls. Bake for 15 minutes. Yields 12-15 rolls.
